tuesday, at 6 am, we rolled out from our respective homes and met in fullerton to conquer our first of many hundred mile rides. of course, we had to fix a flat tire first...because, well, that's just what cycling is about. so we started again at 7 and made our way to the san clemente pier by 10.20.
then, we took an hour lunch break, where we napped, ate as much food as we could and aired out our shoes.
back on the road in the heat of the day was killer, but we stopped a few times along the way, mused philosophical, and drank more water than most fish ever see.
as aaron counted down the last five miles, the excitement rose and the determination was unparalleled.
99 point 5...pedal pedal pedal...
99 point 6...pedal pedal pedal...
point 7...pedal PEDAL PEDAL...
POINT 8....PEDAL! PEDAL! PEDAL!
99 POINT 9 MILES.... PEDAL PEDAL PEDAL
WOOOOOOOOO!!!! OUR FIRST CENTURY!!!!!!
we reached one hundred almost directly in front of where we fixed the flat, 9 hours ealier...that was a little creepy, but the two bottles of cold powerade from the ampm stole our thoughts away... we had entered the post century nirvana.
what a refreshing, incredible journey.
