The Wheels on the bus go round and round (and cost A LOT of money!)

Day 23  -  Wichita, KS to St. Louis, MO  -  445 Miles, Bus
St. Louis, MO to Okawville, IL  -  45 Miles, Bikes

Just in case you are a cycling tourist purist, do not read the following post:

Somewhere in Kansas, we decided that we were going to take a bus, to ease the remaining mileage of our trip, so that we can actually enjoy our rides and time meeting people and exploring places.  It worked.

This morning at 2 AM, we awoke at a bus terminal in Wichita, KS, which we had fallen asleep in front of the night before around midnight. We bought our tickets, loaded the bus, and found peace.

We slept in small spurts during the 8 hour bus ride.

We had to buy a box in Kansas City for our bikes.  $15 bucks a piece, for cardboard you couldn't even sleep in, if you were homeless, which we are.  grumble, grumble.

crossing from Missouri to Illinois

Carl's Jr. & the Green Burrito has an evil twin on the east coast.

Okawville, IL.  Every small town has multiple flags every few feet.

The best part of the day was the road that took us to Okawville, Illinois, which became our camping spot for the evening.  This state has great, green, and narrow highways that wind between rivers and forests.

We like Illinois. It’s Pretty.
